Kakitagawa Park

It takes decades for the snow and rain that falls on Mount Fuji to well up to the ground. The place where the water wells up is Kakitagawa River Welling Up Park in Shimizu-machi, Shizuoka Prefecture. The amount of underground water that gushes out every day is 100 tons! It is the largest amount of water in Japan.

The Kakita River is a river formed by the welling up of water from Mt. The Kakita River is a rare natural monument designated as a historical site. In the park, there is an in-law shrine, a lawn and other surroundings, making it ideal for couples to meet or for families to visit. Eel

Eel is a specialty of Mishima City in Shizuoka Prefecture. Why are eels so famous here? Because Mishima City has Mt. Fuji's welling up water, which Shizuoka Prefecture is very proud of, and after keeping live eels in the clear water for a few days, the fishy and earthy smells of the fish are purified, and in this process, the most delicious eels in Japan are created.
Eel Sakuraya

Founded in 1856, Sakuraya is a popular restaurant in the Mishima area, which is famous for its eels, and there are always long lines. During lunchtime, there is usually a line of about 20 people, which is a testament to the popularity of the eels here.

The eel is placed in the pure gushing water of Mt. Fuji for a few days to remove the fishy odor, then steamed, coated with a secret sauce, and grilled over a long charcoal grill. The outside is charred and the inside is tender! It melts in your mouth! When you have a chance to taste authentic eel rice, you have to have a sip of sake! Unagi and sake go well together, complementing each other's taste and adding to the flavor.

Mishima Cola Cake

Mishima Korokeshi is a korokeshi made from Mishima potatoes (May Queen) harvested in the western foot of Hakone. May Queen is used for 100%, but not for other varieties such as Baron. The western foot of Hakone is very close to Mt. Fuji, where the fertile volcanic ash soil nurtures the potatoes, which are then hand-picked in the traditional way. After a week of air-drying and storage, the potatoes are only available for a limited time during the month of July. Not to mention the flavor, the potatoes are smooth and round, making them easy to store. It is the "queen" of potatoes. Coconut cake made from this excellent potato is sure to be delicious!

There are 247 stores in and out of the city where you can buy Mishima Coconut Cake. Each store has its own specialty in making Mishima Coke, such as adding poached egg into the cake or making it into a cute heart shape, there are many different recipes and shapes.
