What are teamLab Planets?
"teamLab Planets" is an immersive art gallery created by the art organization teamLab, with the most important feature being "walking into the works with the body". Visitors are required to take off their shoes to enter the gallery, or even step into the shallow water space, and as they and others move around, the light, shadow, sound and landscape will instantly change in front of them. The work is not only viewed, but also interacts with your body in a continuous manner, forming a one-time experience of co-creation.
Won the World Travel Award for Asia's Leading Attraction
"The World Travel Awards (WTA), which are voted for by travel industry experts and consumers around the world, have been described by The Wall Street Journal as the "Oscars of the travel industry". In this year's "Asia's Leading Tourist Attraction 2025" competition, teamLab Planets competed with famous landmarks such as the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal, and the Angkor Temples. The fact that Tokyo stood out from the rest of the world symbolizes Tokyo's contemporary culture and technological aesthetics, and has become a bright spot on the global travel map that should not be overlooked.
About Museum Data and Trends
A world-class art museum with over 10 million visitors.
As of October 12, 2025, teamLab Planets has exceeded 10 million visitors within 7 years and 3 months of opening. Overseas visitors accounted for about half of the total, mainly from the United States, Australia, China and Hong Kong, Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany. Highlights of the 2025 Expansion inside and outside the Pavilion
New Outdoor Area: Art × Nature × Relaxation
After a major update in early 2025, the outdoor space and plantings have been upgraded, and several new pieces have been unveiled. These include the Glass House, where you can enjoy tea and wine amidst the art, and the Emptiness Table, where you can enjoy Vegan Ramen Uzu, creating a unique urban oasis that combines daily food and drink with interactive light and shadow.
Selected Outdoor Works
Abstract Paintings of Wind and Forest: Dusk to Dawn: appearing after sunset, with the wind and the trees generating light-colored textures like brushstrokes.
A Small Forest of Clay: An inaccessible forest created by "mixed and dense planting of trees", presenting the ecological possibilities of the land's originality.
The "Garden of the Earth" and "Chair with Stroke of Connections": creating a seamless "stroke of scenery" between the building and the chair, giving continuity to the public space.
Special Space in the Pavilion: Eating and Drinking as Part of the Work
Glass House (Tea, Wine, Orchid Light)
In Floating Flower Garden, the withered orchid is once again cultivated in a lampshade, where light and water maintain its rhythm of life. When you order a cup of tea or pour a glass of wine, the light and shadow in the cup will create an "entrainment" with the surrounding lamps, resonating with each other in the same frequency - the drink is both a condition for and part of the work.
Emptiness Table.
Enjoy the limited menu of Vegan Ramen UZU in the art space. The venue is constructed with teamLab's core concepts of "moving balanced colors" and "super-subjective space," where time and space are re-perceived as light and color continue to change when you focus on them, and remain stable when you step back to look at them.

Why do we have to go?
At teamLab Planets, you don't just "see" the exhibition, but you fully engage your body in a moment of co-creation with others. This "co-creation", which exists only in the moment, is the reason why it beats the world's most famous attractions, attracts overseas travelers year after year, and continues to dominate the social pages. Whether it's your first visit to Tokyo or you've been back many times, it's worth the trip.

Conclusion
The energy of contemporary art is most directly realized in teamLab Planets: water, light, sound, flowers, and people pull each other together, making every entrance an unrepeatable memory. On my next trip to Tokyo, I will leave Toyosu to myself for one night, letting my body breathe in sync with the artwork.
