Time Out Market Osaka Umeda Adds 7 New Summer Highlights! Takoyaki from Dotonbori, Thai, Korean Food, and Hotel Desserts Arrive

Osaka's Umeda district has changed rapidly in recent years, especially Grand Green Osaka (Grand Green Osaka) on the north side of Osaka Station, which is transforming from a tourist-oriented area into a vibrant urban space used daily by office workers, travelers, and locals alike. Time Out Market Osaka, located on the B1 floor of the South Building, will welcome a new lineup in the summer of 2026, featuring seven highlights including Osaka takoyaki, Thai cuisine, Korean home cooking, and hotel desserts.

For Taiwanese travelers, the advantage here is not having to search for restaurants in the complex Umeda underground mall. It's about a 2-minute walk from the JR Osaka Station Umekita underground exit. With about 800 seats in one area, it can cater to lunch, coffee, dinner, bars, and large group gatherings, making it suitable for the first or last day of your Osaka trip.

7 New Highlights to Enhance Your Dining Experience in Umeda

This batch of new content isn't a replacement for a single storefront but rather fills in the gaps for demand at different times. The French chef series is suitable for those who want an exquisite single-dish meal; the Dotonbori famous takoyaki is perfect for first-time visitors to Osaka; Thai and Korean food offerings fill the need for everyday options that are also easy to share among multiple people; and hotel desserts make afternoon tea more purposeful.

With Tenmei (Tenmei ~Jinrui Mina Menrui x Sake Sommelier Keita Akahoshi~) opening in May, which features soy sauce ramen and Japanese sake pairing, Furai Guys reinterprets British pub food with an Osaka flair. After new stores join in June and July, this area will become more like a reusable dining base in Umeda.

Chef Yasushi Tōto supervises, exquisite monthly changing cuisine appears.

The most anticipated new project is Le Chef du Mois (ル・シェフ・デュ・モワ), supervised by Lumiere Group Executive Chef Yasu Toyoda. This monthly project will invite top chefs from various fields to offer a limited edition dish. It opens on June 11th.

The monthly menu allows guests to choose from eight types of seasonal vegetable dishes, paired with a main course and soup, for 2,000 yen. This special is limited to 100 servings per day. They also offer a three-color vegetable smoothie: a full 270cc serving for 990 yen and a half 130cc serving for 500 yen. If you want a more memorable meal than your typical food court fare at a shopping mall, this area should be a top priority for lunch.

Osaka, Thai, and Korean flavors all in one place

Dotonbori's popular restaurant Kureoru (くれおーる) will open on June 14th, offering an evolved version of takoyaki made with porcini mushroom sauce infused with truffle and Parmesan cheese. Eight pieces cost 980 yen. They also have Wagyu beef rolled omelets for 1,100 yen and a mapo eggplant and fried noodle lunch set for 1,300 yen. It's filling enough for lunch and also makes a great snack with drinks in the evening.

The Thai government has certified the restaurant Khun Teap (クンテープ), which opened on June 18, offering green papaya salad for 1,320 yen and a set meal featuring minced pork with basil rice and Thai-style stir-fried rice noodles for 1,870 yen.The Khao Gaeng (カオケン), available only from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., allows customers to choose from approximately six daily side dishes: 1,210 yen for one, 1,540 yen for two, and 1,870 yen for three.

Popular East Shinsaibashi Korean restaurant Manipopo, which specializes in Korean home cooking and street food, has relocated and opened on June 11th. Korean fried chicken starts at 980 yen for 4 pieces, and Manipopo Korean kimbap is 1,000 yen. If your friends have different tastes, with these three restaurants plus the existing ramen and British cuisine, it's easy for everyone to buy something they like and share.

Hotel desserts and already open stores are worth making time for.

Scheduled for July is a limited-time dessert brand by Yoshimi Kamegawa, the pastry chef at Westin Hotel Osaka. If you're planning afternoon tea in Umeda but don't want to dine at a hotel, this pop-up is worth keeping an eye on.

The newly opened Tenmei features ramen with a base of water and soy sauce. The RICH full course is 1,350 JPY, and a bowl of ramen with 3 kinds of sake pairing starts from 2,290 JPY. Furai Guys offers fish and chips for 1,800 JPY and Osaka Bay salad for 1,500 JPY. If you plan to shop at Grand Front Osaka or return to Osaka Station for transportation after dinner, the location is very convenient.

If you live in Umeda, Time Out Market Osaka is a great option for a flexible meal without reservations. If you want to avoid the crowds in the underground mall at lunchtime, you can head there around 11:00 AM. The cafe and dessert area is convenient if you want a break in the afternoon. If you're dining with a group in the evening, everyone can choose different dishes and then meet up. The routes around Osaka Station are complex, so it's recommended to look for the South Building B1 of Grand Green Osaka and the Umekita underground entrance first, as it will be much easier than trying to find your way around the underground mall at the last minute.
