Atagawa YOU Yu Beach: Close to the station, many free facilities, suitable for first-time visitors to East Izu

It's about a 5-minute walk from Izu-Atagawa Station, making it very easy to access, especially for travelers without a car. Admission is free, as are the simple shower facilities and parking. The advantage here is the proximity of the hot spring town to the beach. In the morning, you can play in the water, return to the hotel to rest at noon, and then go out for a walk or to eat seafood in the evening. Nearby is also the Atagawa Banana Crocodile Garden, which is good for family trips or for those who want to combine beach activities with sightseeing.

July 25th Atagawa Onsen Sea Fireworks Festival

On July 25, 2026, the 57th Atagawa Onsen Maritime Fireworks Festival will be held on Atagawa Kaigandori Street. The event will run from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, with fireworks scheduled to begin around 8:45 PM. Approximately 700 fireworks will be launched over the Atagawa sea. Food stalls will also be set up along Kaigandori Street, where you can enjoy festival food while waiting for the fireworks.

If you only want to choose one day for an overnight stay in Tokyo, July 25th would be the most festive date for Atami. It is recommended to choose accommodation in Atami Onsen, check in in the afternoon, take a walk along the coast before or after dinner, and after watching the fireworks at night, you won't have to rush back to the city, making the travel experience much more comfortable.

Izu-Inatori Onsen: Iso SeaGarden IKEJIRI is Great for Families and Observing Marine Life

Atami Onsen磯 SeaGarden IKEJIRIOpen from July 18 to August 31, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Surrounded by rocky cliffs, this is a shore-type beach with a relatively calm sea, ideal for observing marine life. It also features seawater pools and a paid shaded area, making it a more relaxed experience for families.

The beach itself is free to use. If you wish to use the changing rooms, showers, and the shared hot spring pool, the fee is 400 yen for adults and 200 yen for children. Parking fees vary depending on the period: 1,000 yen from July 18th to July 31st and August 24th to August 31st; 1,500 yen from August 1st to August 7th and August 17th to August 23rd; and 2,000 yen from August 8th to August 16th. Facilities available on-site include food sales, restrooms, changing rooms, showers, and a hot spring pool.

In addition to the newt fishing event from July 27th to July 29th, the Izu Inatori area also offers a children's festival from August 3rd to August 5th near the Ryokan Association parking lot, which is very family-friendly for those with children.

Inatori Onsen Fireworks and Night Cruise

The Inatori Onsen Fireworks Dance will be held from July 20-24, 2026, and August 24-28, 2026. The event starts at 8:30 PM daily, with approximately 250 fireworks launched from one of three locations: in front of Inatori Gyokusuiso, Sunrise Terrace, or the new breakwater, switching daily. July 20th and August 24th will feature fireworks in front of Inatori Gyokusuiso. July 21st, 23rd, August 25th, and 27th will be at Sunrise Terrace. July 22nd, 24th, August 26th, and 28th will be at the new breakwater.

During the same period, there will be the Inarimaru Fireworks Night Cruise, departing at 20:00. The meeting point is near the Kinmedai (golden-eyed snapper) art installation next to the Izu Inatori Fishing Port Direct Sales Store "Korashe." Onboard, you can enjoy unlimited alcoholic and soft drinks along with snacks, making it suitable for travelers who want to see the fireworks from a different perspective at sea. However, night cruises are subject to weather and sea conditions, so please pay attention to the daily announcements before booking.

What's the best way to arrange it?

If this is your first time visiting East Izu and you want to travel easily from Tokyo, we recommend staying one night in Atagawa Onsen, including a visit to Atagawa YouYu Beach and the fireworks display on July 25th. If you are traveling with family or want more extensive beach activities, Izu Onsen's Isoba, seawater pool, Kodomo Ennichi, and multi-day fireworks festival would be more suitable.

The charm of Eastern Izu lies not in a single attraction, but in the rhythm of beach bathing, hot springs, fireworks, and hotel dinners. Planning for one night and two days allows for a better summer experience than a same-day trip.
