Kitakyushu City is also known as the "Gateway to Kyushu".

From Fukuoka Airport, you can go to Hakata Station and change to Shinkansen at Hakata Station and arrive at Kokura Station in about 40 minutes.
It was there in the blink of an eye.

Soulful food at Japan's first arcade shopping street, Uomachi Gintenkaido.

Located in the north district of Kokura, Ginten Street in Uomachi was established in 1951 and is famous for being one of the first arcade shopping streets in Japan.Conveniently located within an 8-minute walk from JR Kokura Station. There are more than 150 stores, ranging from restaurants and boutiques to grocery stores and beauty stores. If you're planning to visit Kokura, make sure to stop by Uomachi Ginten Street first. There are plenty of grab-and-go restaurants and popular izakaya (Japanese-style pubs) where you can enjoy not only lunch, but also a drink in the evening.

Shiroya Bakery Kokura is one of the most popular restaurants in the world and is often seen in the media.
This is a sweet French bakery, made by adding a lot of condensed milk to French bread.Because the prices are also very affordable, most locals buy in bulk.

Studied history at Kokura Castle! There's a photo booth and a bar.

Kokura Castle was officially built in 1602 by the famous general Tadashi Hosokawa and took seven years to complete.

Tenshokaku was destroyed in a fire, but was rebuilt in 1959 and still retains its majestic appearance.
The theater on the first floor showcases the 400-year history of Kokura Castle. The second and third floors are exhibition rooms where visitors can learn about the history of the great men closely associated with the castle. In addition, the Itsukushima Photo Booth, where visitors can take photos with the realistic image of Musashi Miyamoto, a swordsman who often appears in manga and animation, is a popular spot for taking stunning photos!

After taking some interesting photos, you can take a break at the observation space on the 5th floor and enjoy a panoramic view of Kokura City.Feel the charm of the castle.

Kokura Castle's observation area is being remodeled, and when it's finished, it will be the only space in Japan where you can enjoy food and coffee.

Regular events will be held every week, and visitors can enjoy coffee and other beverages from famous stores, as well as sake and sushi. For more information, please visit the official Kokurajo website.

Tanga Market is a place for extraordinary tastes.

The Tanjo Market in the center of Kokura City is called “Kitakyushu's Kitchen” and offers a wide variety of seafood and vegetables. The market is a maze of old stores and buildings, with a maze-like atmosphere full of unusual and fun things to do!There are so many fascinating stores that it can be hard to decide where to start, but I recommend Kokura Fish Cake, founded in 1920, a popular store that sells 2,000 copies of their signature “canape” in a single day to a long queue.

Another worthwhile experience is the "corner hit"."Kakunodate" refers to the nostalgic atmosphere of the Showa Era, where you can eat Kanto-bushi, stews made with rice bran soup, etc., while standing and drinking sake.

Chinese maps can be downloaded from the bazaar website. Please refer to the map to start your market tour.

Kitakyushu Outlet is about 13 minutes from JR Kokura Station on the JR Kagoshima Main Line.
It's also a short distance from Space World Station! This is one of the largest outlet centers in western Japan, with about 150 brand-name stores and restaurants, including international apparel brands such as ARMANI, Calvin Klein, LACOSTE and Coach, as well as domestic brands such as ADAM ET ROPÉ and avv.Apart from that, there are also sports goods such as Nike, Adidas and Puma, some of which are discounted by 70% or even close to half price, making it a great place to go treasure hunting. The outdoor sidewalks in the shopping center are roofed so you won't get wet shopping in the rain.It can also be used as a sunscreen in the summer!

Driving experience at Kitakyushu Railway Memorial Hall

At the Kitakyushu Railway Museum, you can get up close and personal with the railroads and steam locomotives that were used during the Meiji era.The popular Model Train Show is a must-visit for railfans.Visitors will also be able to see the station staff's uniforms, front-end signs, a variety of tickets and railroad tools, and enjoy a fascinating railroad exhibition.

Exhibitions of actual locomotives and vehicles from all over Kyushu are very popular, as are events where you can experience double-tracking, signaling and other equipment.
There will also be a booth where visitors can experience train operations in a real cab, and many of the exhibits will be available for hands-on experience.

One of the highlights of the museum is its beautiful architecture. The red bricks built during the Meiji period are very out of piece.

Enjoying the scenery at the retro town of Menji Harbor

The exotic port city of Menji Port is a great place for a walk. The first thing that caught my eye was the neo-Renaissance style Menzies Harbor Station. The streets around the station are lined with trendy cafes and artworks, and everywhere you go, you'll be able to take great photos. From the observation deck of the nostalgic district of Moji Port, 103 meters above ground, you can enjoy one of the three best night views in Japan.

Another not-to-be-missed attraction is the Dalian Friendship Memorial Hall, built to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the friendship city agreement between Kitakyushu and Dalian, China. The building is modeled after a famous Dalian building, with a beautiful exterior made of a combination of brick and stone.

Sanyi-Ryu is one of the largest remaining Japanese-style pubs in Kyushu and a must-see attraction. This historic building is a masterpiece of Showa architecture in Japan and is free to visit. The Japanese restaurant in the Sanyi Building serves blowfish dishes and sushi, and lunch is relatively reasonably priced.
