滋賀長濱限定!奧琵琶湖旬魚盛宴「美食之會」3/15登場:本諸子與琵琶鱒一次吃懂

Do you want to eat "only local and fresh of the day" lake fish dishes while traveling in Japan? Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, will hold a popular event, "Tasting Seasonal Fresh Fish: A Gourmet Meeting," on Sunday, March 15, 2026, hosted by the Asahi Fisheries Cooperative Association (Asahi Fisheries Cooperative Association) at the Asahi Fisheries Hall.

The reason for the rapid filling of the tables every time is simple: the event takes the fish and shellfish caught in season in Lake Obiwa and makes them into sashimi, stews, tempura, salt-grilled, and many other ways of eating them, so you can get the spring flavors of Biwako all in one meal.

A taste of Biwako's spring season in one sitting

According to the organizers, spring is the season when the sweetness of carp (ホンモロコ) is at its most attractive, and on-site they may also offer the ingredients caught by the fishermen on the day, such as scented fish, male fish, seta clams, pipa trout, and Nigoro carp, and present them in a variety of cooking styles.

Among them, "Honmoko Salt Grill," which is also common at the restaurant, is served freshly grilled, while the flavor of freshly fried tempura is superior for the scented fish and the male fish. Lake Biwa trout, known as the "Jewel of Lake Biwa," can be enjoyed both sashimi and stewed, and is friendly to those who are new to lake fish.

The menu may be adjusted depending on the species of fish available on the day.

High CP-value food for Fish Sponsors

The most exciting thing about this type of event is that instead of ordering a single dish, the restaurant focuses on the differences in the flavors of the same body of water by using "sashimi, poke, tenburi, and veggie yaki": the same fish can have completely different personalities with different heat and seasoning.

If you like to leave your travel memories on your palate, this experience, straight from the producer's end to the table, is well worth fitting into your itinerary.
