What is Shizuoka?<\/h2>\n
Shizuoka Prefecture is located in the central part of Honshu, Japan, along the Pacific Ocean, and is roughly divided into the Izu, Mount Fuji and Oi River Basin (Chubu-West) areas. The Izu Peninsula in the south of Shizuoka Prefecture is home to some of the most famous beaches and hot spring towns, including Shimoda. In the northern part of the prefecture, Mt. Fuji, the highest active volcano in Japan at 3,776 meters, is located. Shizuoka City, the seat of the prefectural government, and Hamamatsu City, the largest city in the prefecture, are located in the central and western parts of the prefecture.
\nThis time, I would like to introduce you to the Izu region, which is well known both inside and outside of Japan! Izu is easily accessible from Tokyo and other major cities, and is famous for its mountains, sea, and abundant nature.<\/div>\n

In Shizuoka Prefecture, there are Shinkansen stations in 6 areas including Shizuoka, Mishima and Atami. Kakitagawa Park<\/b><\/div>\n

It takes decades for the snow and rain that falls on Mount Fuji to well up to the ground. The place where the water wells up is Kakitagawa River Welling Up Park in Shimizu-machi, Shizuoka Prefecture. The amount of underground water that gushes out every day is 100 tons! It is the largest amount of water in Japan.<\/div>\n

After a week of air-drying and storage, the potatoes are only available for a limited time during the month of July. Introduction to Shuzenji Area<\/h3>\n

Shuzenji Temple is the oldest hot spring resort in Izu and is known as the \"Little Kyoto of Izu\". Shuzenji Temple was founded 1200 years ago as the center of the temple by Venerable Kukai, who went to Chang'an in the Eastern Tang Dynasty to study Buddhism. The Katsura River flows through the city, and the elegant bamboo paths and vermillion-colored bridges, as well as the interesting stores and foot baths ...... make you feel like an old capital when you walk around.<\/div>\n

Shuzenji Temple was founded in 807, the second year of the Heian period, by the Buddhist monk Kukai. The temple has a history of more than 1,200 years, and even the official history of the temple states that it is \"a thousand Zen temples in Izu Province. The seated statue of Dainichi Nyorai in the temple was created in 1210 by the famous Buddhist sculptor Mitsuru Kei, and is now designated as a national important cultural property.<\/div>\n
