In those days, however, Unazuki Onsen was still a virgin forest, and there were no roads, so only a few forest guards knew about the place.<br \/>\nIt was not until the middle of the Taisho period (one hundred years ago) that some of the workers began to use the hot springs as part of the Kurobegawa power development project.
