Kyoto one-day tour classic route recommendation!

京都一日遊經典路線推薦!!

Kyoto Day Trip from Nagoya

Kyoto is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan. In Kyoto, you can visit various temples and shrines, enjoy Japanese cuisine and matcha desserts, and experience the culture of maiko (traditional Japanese courtesans) and the unique customs of Japan.
However, even if you wish to travel to Kyoto, you may find that the hotel you wish to stay at is fully booked, or that accommodation is too expensive because it falls on a holiday.
In this case, I recommend another city, Nagoya!
Kyoto is only about 30 minutes away from Nagoya by Shinkansen, so you can enjoy the charm of Kyoto even in a day trip.

As a regular traveler in Japan, today I would like to recommend a day trip to Kyoto from Nagoya!

Nagoya is easily accessible by public transportation, making it an ideal base for touring Japan!

As one of the three largest cities in Japan, Nagoya's convenient transportation is one of the city's main attractions.
Nagoya Station is only about 30 minutes from Central Japan International Airport (CENTRAIR), where domestic and international flights can be taken to various destinations. In addition, it is only about 30 minutes to Kyoto and about 1 hour and 30 minutes to Tokyo by Shinkansen from Nagoya Station.

Osaka is only about 30 minutes from the airport and Kyoto, but Nagoya has relatively fewer foreign tourists than Osaka, so if you're looking for a relaxing getaway, it's recommended that you use Nagoya as your base.

On the other hand, Kyoto and Osaka have a higher concentration of foreign tourists, so hotel prices are relatively high.
In contrast, staying in Nagoya is more affordable and you can easily book a room.Considering the higher cost of accommodation in Kyoto and Osaka, I think it is more cost effective to stay in Nagoya, even if the transportation cost to and from Nagoya is taken into account.

In addition, Nagoya has many local specialties, known as “Nagoya rice,” and it is also convenient for sightseeing in Shirakawa-go, a World Heritage Site, and in the old town of Takayama.

From Nagoya to Kyoto

Kyoto is a 34-minute ride from Nagoya on the Shinkansen "Nozomi" train.Note that the next stop after Nagoya is Kyoto, so don't doze off and miss your stop.

Fox Mask Painting Experience at Xi House

After arriving at Kyoto Station, take the JR line to Inari Station.Next to Inari Station is the famous Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, which is densely populated with vermillion-colored torii. It's also a must-see attraction that you can visit before or after your trip to Saiya. The fox, a symbol of Fushimi Inari Taisha, has been regarded as a messenger of the gods since ancient times. For this reason, Fushimi Inari's "Eima" wooden plaque has been designed in the shape of a fox, which is different from the rest of the world.
At Saiya, near Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, visitors can draw fox masks themselves.
I'm sure some of you will have noticed that fox masks have also appeared in anime such as Ghostbusters Blade, Firefly Forest, and Naruto. When painting the mask, you can draw various expressions, patterns or words on the snow-white fox mask to create your own unique artwork.

In addition, there is a store specializing in Kyoto's traditional crafts. This is the ideal place for those who want to carefully select their favorite souvenirs.

Enjoy a lunch set of Kyoto's pickled vegetables

After experiencing the painting of fox masks and visiting Fushimi Inari Shrine, we will return to Kyoto Station again. Then walk about 10 minutes from Kyoto Station to a restaurant called "isoism" and try a lunch set of pickles made from Kyoto vegetables.
This lunchtime set menu features “pickles,” a popular Japanese dish since ancient times, where you can taste a variety of delicious Kyoto vegetables marinated in miso, sake lees, and oils.
In order to maximize the flavor of each ingredient, the restaurant chooses different marination techniques based on the characteristics of each vegetable.

You can order your favorite dishes from the menu provided by the restaurant, but it is recommended that you order a set menu so that you can enjoy a variety of seasonal flavors at the same time.

※Pre-reservation is required for the package (by phone or on-line).

Bridge to the Moon

After a good meal, it was time to get up and head to the next attraction. This is the Watanuki Bridge at Arashiyama, one of the most popular attractions in Kyoto.

First, take the JR line from Kyoto Station to Saga Arashiyama Station. Of course, you can also take a bus, but it is recommended that you take a train so that you can arrive at least 30 minutes earlier.

The Watanuki Bridge is about a 10-minute walk from Saga Arashiyama Station, and there is an Arashiyama shopping street along the way. The beautiful Watanuki Bridge stretches into the distance against the backdrop of the lush Arashiyama Mountains. The scenery changes with the seasons, and you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring, fresh greenery in summer, red leaves in autumn, and night scenery and snow in winter.

If you want to learn more about the charm and culture of Arashiyama, you can take a rickshaw ride and be guided by the driver.

Arashiyama Yusai-tei

Yusai-tei is a 7-minute walk along the Katsura River from Watsuki Bridge. Yusai-tei was built more than 150 years ago as an inn, but now it is owned by Yusai Okuda, a dye artist, and is open to the public as a dyeing art gallery.

The main attraction of Yusai Pavilion is the natural beauty reflected on the mirror table inside the pavilion! It has become a hot topic on social networking sites, and as a popular attraction, it has attracted a large number of domestic and foreign tourists. The magnificent natural scenery outside the window is cut through the window, creating a unique and beautiful picture. The rooms with round windows, water mirrors, and Yasunari Kawabata's room are all worth seeing.

Regarding the entrance to the pavilion, early reservation will give you priority to visit the pavilion. Especially during the foliage season, visitors come in droves, so be sure to make a reservation through the official website as early as possible!

The Arashiyama area is home to a number of scenic spots, such as the Bamboo Trail, the Kotobukuro (small train), and Saiyo-ji Temple (also known as Moss Temple), to name a few. There are also a variety of street food and cafes, so it is advisable to leave enough time to explore the area.

Returning to Nagoya from Kyoto

After the day trip to Kyoto, return to Nagoya Station. The last train to Nagoya on the Shinkansen is around 22:45, so you can have dinner in Kyoto and walk around the streets of Kyoto at night. But don't miss the check-in time at the hotel.

Stay at the hotel!

After returning to Nagoya Station, take out your luggage and belongings from the locker and check in at your hotel. Do you feel satisfied with this day trip?

There are many hotels in Nagoya, but we recommend Hotel Nikko Style Nagoya. It is a lifestyle hotel with exquisite spaces full of design and is the first hotel in Japan under the new brand "Nikko Style" launched by Okura Hotels & Resorts.

The hotel is decorated with regional specialties such as Nagoya art, Seto-yaki art, and Arimatsu-dyed tapestries. Two of the main features of the hotel are the time of day and seasonal background music, and a DJ booth, which is not often found in other hotels. In the restaurant, you can also enjoy specialty coffees from Nagoya's popular cafe, TRUNK COFFEE.

Staying at a hotel with the local flavor of Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture will surely make your memories of Japan even better.

Nagoya is the ideal place to stay to enjoy the charm of Kyoto!

Nagoya has excellent access to not only the airport, but also to Kyoto and Tokyo. It takes only about 30 minutes to drive from Nagoya to Kyoto, making it easy to make a day trip out of it. Nagoya has a large number of hotels and a relatively small number of foreign tourists, so if you are looking to save as much money as possible on accommodation and desire a quieter environment, then Nagoya is a great choice.

Nagoya is also home to many famous sights and delicacies (Nagoya rice), so if you start your trip to Japan with Nagoya as your base, you are sure to have a rich travel experience. We look forward to welcoming you to Nagoya as a base for your trip to Japan.
