Kyoto's "The Westin Miyako" x Century-Old Shop "Taneya" Collaborate for the First Time! Spring Limited Afternoon Tea "Kissui Hakkei" to Debut in April

京都「威斯汀都飯店」×百年老舖「種屋」首次聯名!春限定下午茶「吉水八景」4月登場

A Springtime limited eight-course feast from a prestigious hotel in Kyoto's Higashiyama district.

The Westin Miyako Kyoto, established in 1890 and located in Keage, Kyoto, will be launching its first collaboration afternoon tea, "Kissui Hakkei," from April 1 to May 31, 2026, at the second-floor tea lounge "Mayfair." This collaboration is with Taneya, a long-established wagashi (Japanese confectionery) shop from Shiga.

The Westin Miyako Hotel Kyoto, which has welcomed royalty and distinguished guests from around the world since its opening, and Taneya, a renowned Japanese confectionery maker with over 150 years of history in Omihachiman, both share a deep connection with "Lake Biwa's water." This historic, first-time collaboration marks an encounter that transcends time.

"Eight Views of YOSHIMIZU" – Eight Kyoto Scenic Wonders Gazed Upon from the Hotel

"Jissui Hakkei," designated in 1895 (Meiji 28), consists of eight scenic spots chosen by the hotel from the breathtaking views that captivated painters Tomioka Tessai and Taniguchi Kokyo when they visited the hotel's predecessor, "Jissui-en." From the snow-clear skies over Mt. Hiei, the evening bells of Konkai Komyoji Temple, the autumn leaves of Kumano Wakaoji Shrine, to the rising sun at Heian Jingu Shrine... Kyoto unfolds in all its seasonal splendor before your eyes.

This afternoon tea is inspired by these eight scenes, created by the fusion of Tanakaya's wagashi artistry and classical French culinary techniques. Served on Okura Art China porcelain exclusively for state guests, the three-tiered stand depicts a scene of Kyoto in springtime.
