Sapporo-exclusive freshly made cheesecake! Rich milk sweets from KINOTOYA Shiroishi Main Store

Sapporo-exclusive freshly made cheesecake! Rich milk sweets from KINOTOYA Shiroishi Main Store

A trip to Sapporo is not just about scheduling ramen, soup curry, and Genghis Khan barbecue; setting aside some time for afternoon tea at a local dessert shop will also make your itinerary taste more like Hokkaido.KINOTOYA Shiroishi Main Store Cafe (KINOTOYA Shiroishi Main Store / KINOTOYA cafe)Starting September 1st, a limited-edition freshly made supreme milk soft-serve cheesecake will be introduced. It transforms the immensely popular supreme milk soft-serve from New Chitose Airport into a cake dessert that can only be ordered and eaten fresh at the Shiroishi main store. The whipped cream on the very top is freshly prepared after you place your order, so to experience it freshly drizzled and at its softest texture upon the first bite, you have to visit the store in person.

This isn't the frozen souvenir version you can buy at the airport and bring back to your hotel, but rather a plate of dessert meant to be enjoyed slowly while sitting down in Sapporo. If you have plans to visit Shiroishi, the Sapporo Beer Museum, or go shopping downtown, dropping by a cafe in the afternoon is just right. Available daily starting at 12:00 in limited quantities, dessert lovers are advised not to wait until evening to arrive.

From freshly squeezed cream to a honey-dripping five-layer texture

This dessert is served as a small cake, featuring an almond tart crust and cookie base at the bottom, layered in order with baked cheesecake, Hokkaido acacia honey, and cheese mousse, and finally topped with fluffy cream made from premium milk soft-serve ice cream. When sliced, golden honey flows from the center, while sweet and sour strawberries and powdered sugar give the rich milky flavor a lighter finish.

The cream is made only after an order is placed, so it is at its best when served. It is recommended to take a photo first and then cut it from the center to see the layers of flowing honey. If you are going with a friend, one can order a cake and the other a drink to share. The texture tends to be rich, so pairing it with unsweetened coffee or tea will create a better balance. This freshly made dessert is not suitable for takeout that involves walking around for a long time, so scheduling it as a rest stop in the middle of shopping is the best way to experience its value.

950 yen à la carte, or take your time with a drink set

The a la carte price is 950 yen, and the drink set is 1,400 yen. For travelers who want to sit in a cafe a little longer, organize photos, or escape the afternoon weather changes in Sapporo, the drink set is more suitable; if dinner is already booked and you just want to try a limited-edition dessert, the a la carte option is also easy to fit into the itinerary. The Shiroishi main store is open from 9:00 to 20:00, and the cafe service hours are from 10:00 to 19:00.

In the store, you can also find the round, frozen version of the Supreme Milk Soft-Serve Cheesecake, which is about 10.5 centimeters in diameter, weighs 270 grams, and costs 2,484 yen. It is ideal for travelers who want to take it back to their accommodation or give it as a gift. However, once thawed, frozen products must be consumed within 48 hours and should not be refrozen. For short-distance travel, it is best to prepare a cooler bag. If you want freshly made cream, make sure to choose the cafe-exclusive version and do not confuse the two products.

How to plan a self-guided trip to Sapporo?

The Shiroishi main store is located along Nango-dori at 3-chome 5-jō, Higashi-Shiroishi, Shiroishi-ku, Sapporo. It is not an attraction you can walk to straight from Sapporo Station, so it is recommended to include it when taking the subway to Shiroishi Ward or planning a half-day stroll from the city center. If your itinerary starts or ends at New Chitose Airport, you can first have soft-serve ice cream at the airport and then try the freshly made cake in the city, making it easier to compare how the same milk flavor performs in different desserts.

Desserts start daily at 12:00 and are limited in quantity, so the safest arrival time is shortly after lunch. Winter and rainy days are even better for using the cafe as an indoor buffer in your itinerary, while summer allows you to enjoy milk cream during the hotter afternoons. You can check the store's business information again before leaving to avoid temporary schedule adjustments.
