Fukuoka Hakata Bay Night View with Eel Kaiseki! Fukuoka Sunpalace Galaxy Launches Summer Limited "Unkō" on July 1st.
If you're planning a summer trip to Fukuoka and looking for a restaurant perfect for a date, anniversary, or a nice meal before or after a concert, consider adding Shun-sai Washoku Ginga on the 9th floor of Fukuoka Sunpalace Hotel & Hall to your list. From July 1st to August 30th, 2026, the restaurant will be offering a special summer-limited haute cuisine course called "Un Ko" featuring eel as the main ingredient, priced at 8,000 yen per person.
The selling point of Ginza is that all seats are by the window, offering views of the Hakata city skyline and Hakata Bay. Compared to the lively izakayas in the city center, this place is more suitable for those who want to enjoy a leisurely dinner, admire the night view, and plan a more formal evening during their trip. Especially since Fukuoka Sunpalace itself has a large concert hall, if you happen to be attending a performance, having dinner or a special celebration in the same building would be very convenient.

Summer-limited Kaiseki "Unagi Scent" available from July 1st to August 30th.
The "Unagi-ka" (Eel Aroma) special menu will be available from July 1 to August 30, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, closed on Mondays, except for national holidays. This is the first time Shun Sai Washoku Ginga will feature eel as the main star of their summer kaiseki. From small appetizers, sashimi, steamed dishes to grilled eel and steamed rice, the aroma of eel is combined with summer ingredients to create a complete dinner.
Meals must be reserved by 6:00 PM the day before. If your travel dates are fixed, we recommend not waiting until the day of to find a restaurant, especially on weekends, concert days, or during summer vacation. Booking in advance will give you greater peace of mind.
From grilled eel to grilled wagyu, the portions are very satisfying.
The kaiseki begins with three small appetizers, including eel and cucumber in vinegar (uzaku). This is followed by sashimi, simmered seasonal vegetables, and then the main event: eel dishes. The menu features fragrant broiled eel (kabayaki), eel and seaweed in vinegar, steamed egg custard with sea urchin, grilled Wagyu beef sirloin, and concludes with steamed eel rice and miso soup. The dessert is green tea ice cream with a sesame aroma.
This combination isn't just about eating grilled eel and rice; it's about incorporating grilled eel into the rhythm of a Japanese kaiseki meal. If you want to have a more formal dinner in Fukuoka than ramen or street food stalls, but don't want to choose a high-end restaurant that's too difficult to understand, a kaiseki meal within a hotel is a more manageable option.
Window seats throughout, suitable for anniversaries and travel dinners.
Shunsai Washoku Ginga is located on the 9th floor of Fukuoka Sunpalace Hotel & Hall. All seats by the window offer views of the Hakata streetscape and the seaside. During dinner, if the weather is good, the changing scenery from dusk to night is perfect for a leisurely meal. It can also be used for special dinners for birthdays, wedding anniversaries, business receptions, or as a memorable meal during your travels.
The restaurant also offers a Japanese-style anniversary course (和のアニバーサリーコース) for ¥10,000 per person, which includes a whole cake and a bouquet. If you order Japanese kaiseki courses such as "Unagi-ka" (鰻香), you can inquire in advance about adding a dessert plate with a message for free or upgrading to a whole cake for an additional ¥3,000. You can choose between a strawberry shortcake, a chocolate cake, or a strawberry and champagne heart-shaped mousse cake. These requests also need to be made by 6:00 PM the day before.

If your Fukuoka itinerary mainly focuses on Hakata, Tenjin, and the bayside area, this restaurant is suitable for a less rushed evening. You can spend the day exploring Canal City Hakata, Tenjin, or Ohori Park, then move to the Hakata Bay area in the evening. It won't be too difficult to return to the city center after dinner. For those who want to see the night view, booking an earlier time slot or around sunset is recommended. If it's an anniversary, inform them about dessert platters or cake requests in advance, as this will be more reliable than adding them last minute on the spot.
